DSC COACHING

The Detroit Skating Club boasts one of the strongest
coaching staffs in the world. Over the past four years, DSC has
produced over thirty-five medallists at the national, world and
Olympic level of competition. This is highlighted by having the
1997, 1998 and 1999 World Junior Champions, along with the Ladies
And Men's World Champion and the 1998 Ladies Olympic Gold Medallist.
This remarkable achievement ties directly into
the professional coaching staff at our club. Over seventy-five
percent
of the staff are either former international or world class
skaters or have coaching experience at the national, international,
world
and Olympic level of competitive skating.
Professional Coaching Staff

Julie Berlin
Julie Berlin is a Gold Medalist in figures and freestyle. She is a national and international coach and a member of the P.S.A. Julie has had many national and international medalists, along with twenty years of coaching experience. She also has a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin.
Richard Brown
Former national level competitor. Richard is a USFSA gold level dancer with ISU silver dance tests.
Seth Chafetz
Mr. Chafetz is a Gold Medallist in Figures, Freestyle, Dance and
Canadian Dance. He is a Silver Medallist in free dance and pairs.
With fifteen years teaching experience, he has taken students
from Preliminary through Gold Dance test and has had Regional
and Sectional Medallists. Seth has a Bachelor Science degree in
Psychology from Michigan State University.
Natalia Deller
She is a former World Dance competitor. She was on the 1988 Olympic team and was the 1992 U.S. Open Dance Champion.
Rebecca Dever
Ms. Dever is a double gold medalist in figures and freestyle, along with her PSA senior ratings in freestyle. She has also coached skaters at the national, international and world level. Rebecca has been coaching figure skating since 1991.
Tatiana Deych
Tatiana is a former World Junior Ice Dance Champion and USSR National Team member. She has a master degree from the Institute of Physical Culture. She was the international head ice dance coach in Nottingham, from 2000 -2002. She is qualified to teach freestyle, moves and dance.
Jason Dungjen
Gold Medallist in Figures, Freestyle and Pairs. The 1997 &
1998 U.S. Pair Champion along with being a 1994 & 1998 Olympic
team member. Jason has been a resident coach at DSC since 1998.
Natasha Haase
Mrs. Haase has two Master Degrees as a coach and choreographer.
Ten years as a Russian National Team Member, winner of many International
Competitions, University games and World Competition. Silver National
Medallist in single skating. Coaching experience since 1981, resident
coach at DSC since 1990. Member of International Summer School
in Finland, 1988-1989. International master of sport of the U.S.S.R.
Steve Hartsell
Steve is a gold medalist in Freestyle, Field Moves and Pairs. He is a National, International and World competitor.
Linda Johns
Ms. Johns is a National, International and World Team Coach. She
has coached skaters through the gold figure, gold freestyle and
gold pair. Linda toured four years with Ice Capades and has been
a Resident Coach at the Detroit Skating Club since 1979.
Maria Lako-Pinkowski
Maria is a U.S. Figure Skating triple gold medalist in figures, freestyle, pairs and a pre-gold medalist in dance. She is also a Canadian double gold medalist in figures. She was a U.S. National and International team member for 9 years. She holds 2 Bachelor of Science Degrees. One from the University of Delaware in Physical Education and the other from the University of Michigan in Dental Hygiene.
Rachel Lee
Rachel is a senior rated coach in freestyle through the Professional Skaters Association and has coached competitive skaters through their senior moves and freestyle. She has been a resident coach and DSC's ice show coordinator since 1999. Rachel is also a national singles coach.
Karen Lingenfelter
Mrs. Lingenfelter is a USFSA and CFSA Gold Dance Medallist; and
USFSA Gold Free Dance Medallist and has two classes of her ISU's.
Karen has over fifteen years of teaching experience from the pre-preliminary
level through the gold levels. She is a member of the PSGA.
Susan Lynch
Susan is a former National and International competitor and a
Gold Medallist in Figures, Freestyle and Pairs.
Aaron Parchem
Aaron is a World and Olympic pair competitor. He is a Gold medalist in freestyle, pairs and moves in the field. He is also a 4 time National Pair medalist.
Yuka Sato
Ms. Sato is a Gold Medallist in Freestyle. She is the 1994 Ladies
World Champion along with being a 1992 & 1994 Olympic team
member. Yuka has been a resident coach at DSC since 1998.
Tracy Sheppard
Tracy Sheppard is a two time International Competitor and three time National competitor while training at the Detroit Skating Club. She has been a member of the DSC Coaching Staff since 1986 and is a USFSA Gold Medallist in Figures and Freestyle and a Silver Medallist in Dance.
Brooke Sloan
Brooke has been a PSGA member since 1990. She passed Junior Freestyle,
7th Figure and Pre-gold Dance tests. Brooke is a National and
International Precision Coach.
Zuzanna Szwed
Five Time Polish Ladies Senior Champion, Five Time World Competitor
And 1992 Olympic Team Member. Zuzanna Is A National and International
coach and has been a resident coach at DSC since 1999.
Jodie Balogh-Tasich
Jodie is a former Junior Dance National Champion, along with competing
Internationally at the Junior World Championships, Skate Canada
and the Asko Cup in Vienna, Austria. She has Gold Medals in Dance,
Freestyle and Free Dance. She is a National coach.
