Dear Evolution Skaters and Families,

We would like to announce an addition to our Evolution coaching staff, Brooke Sloan, who will work with Benoit and the other coaches for the 2008-2009 season.  Brooke has years of synchronized coaching experience and we believe her contribution will add to the strength of all the Evolution teams. 

Benoit is currently recovering from medical procedures in Montreal.  He has reviewed the audition DVD’s and has made his recommendations.  We wish him a speedy recovery and can’t wait for his return.  During his absence Brooke will be working with all the coaches to organize the spring training schedules. 

We hope to stay on schedule and release team rosters by weeks end and hold parent meetings next week.  If you have any concerns please contact Jerod Swallow Director of Skating at 248-332-3000 X 106.

DSC Excellence FUND 2008

Over the past 17 years, the Detroit Excellence Fund has given more than $160,000 in financial grants to deserving skaters. Undoubtedly, some of those recipients are now established in and out of the skating world.

The Excellence Fund would like those recipients, who benefited from receiving financial grants, to consider making a contribution. Such generosity would pay forward to the new generation of skaters.

The Detroit Skating Club Excellence Fund is a 501c(3) corporation and contributions are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Eisenhower Dance Ensemble

The Detroit Skating Club recently established a relationship with the Eisenhower Dance Ensemble, a nationally touring contemporary dance company based locally.  EDE provides our skaters with additional opportunities for dance training beyond the offerings of DSC's already exceptional off-ice dance program. For example, EDE's professional dancers have provided workshops in jazz/hip hop, modern dance and choreography.  Many of the EDE dancers also teach on an ongoing basis in the off-ice dance program at DSC.
